Istanbul (Web Desk): The first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee, formed under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, is set to take place in Turkiye’s Istanbul today (Monday).
Pakistan will be represented at the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Foreign and defence ministers, along with the Chiefs of General Staff, from Türkiye and Saudi Arabia will also participate in the meeting.
Pakistan’s presence at the gathering reflects its longstanding and historic ties with Turkiye and Saudi Arabia, while also underscoring Islamabad’s commitment to promoting lasting peace, security and stability across the region.
