PSL 11: Karachi Kings beat Lahore Qalandars by 4 wickets 

Lahore (Web Desk): Lahore witnessed a thrilling encounter in the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League as Karachi Kings edged out their traditional rivals Lahore Qalandars by four wickets in a high-intensity clash at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

After winning the toss, Lahore opted to bat first, but their innings never quite gained momentum as Karachi’s disciplined bowling attack kept the batters under constant pressure. Restricted throughout their innings, Lahore managed to post only 128 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Among the home side’s batters, Abdullah Shafique stood out with a composed 33, while Haseebullah contributed 28 runs. Karachi’s bowling unit delivered a collective effort, with Moeen Ali, Mir Hamza, and Adam Zampa each claiming two wickets, effectively dismantling Lahore’s batting lineup and preventing any substantial partnerships.

In response, Karachi Kings approached the chase with caution, aware of the modest yet tricky target.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, they held their nerve and successfully reached 129 in the final over, finishing with six wickets down. Mohammad Wasim played a key role with a steady 38, while Saad Baig and Moeen Ali chipped in with valuable contributions of 18 runs apiece.

Lahore’s captain Shaheen Shah Afridi led from the front with an impressive bowling performance, picking up four wickets and keeping the contest alive until the very end.

An unusual moment during the match added further intrigue when the on-field umpires deemed the condition of the ball unsatisfactory and imposed a five-run penalty on Lahore Qalandars.

Those runs were awarded to Karachi Kings and ultimately proved significant in shaping the outcome of a closely fought contest.
