Pakistan Navy ship Taimur successfully rescues stranded fishing vessel in North Arabian Sea

Karachi (Web Desk): Pakistan Navy carried out a successful rescue mission after a fishing vessel encountered trouble in the North Arabian Sea, saving all 19 people onboard from a potentially life-threatening situation.

According to a press release issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Pakistan Navy), the fishing vessel AL JALALI became stranded around 120 nautical miles south of Gwadar after suffering an engine malfunction.

The vessel was carrying 19 crew members, comprising 11 Pakistani and eight Iranian nationals.
The emergency worsened as adverse monsoon weather swept across the North Arabian Sea, exposing the stranded fishermen to serious danger.

As soon as the distress alert was received, the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) coordinated closely with the Pakistan Navy to launch an immediate search and rescue mission.

Pakistan Navy ship PNS Taimur was promptly assigned to respond to the emergency and provide assistance to the disabled fishing vessel.

Thanks to the rapid response, the stranded crew received food, drinking water and medical treatment while still at sea. After ensuring their safety, the naval team successfully towed the damaged vessel towards the shore.

The operation once again demonstrated the Pakistan Navy's firm commitment to protecting lives at sea and its constant preparedness to respond effectively to maritime emergencies across the region.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif applauded the Pakistan Navy for safely rescuing the 19 fishermen stranded in the northern Arabian Sea through the efforts of PNS Taimur.

In their separate statements, the president and the premier said that the successful mission reflected the Pakistan Navy's unwavering dedication and operational readiness to safeguard human lives during emergencies at sea.

President Asif Ali Zardari said protecting lives in maritime emergencies highlighted the Pakistan Navy's steadfast commitment to fulfilling both its national and international obligations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the officers and sailors who took part in the operation for ensuring the safe rescue of all 19 crew members aboard the fishing vessel, including 11 Pakistani and eight Iranian nationals.

"The Pakistan Navy personnel provided the stranded crew with food, drinking water, and medical assistance at sea, which is a practical demonstration of our armed forces’ humanitarian values and professional excellence," PM Shehbaz said.
