Islamabad (Staff Report): Dr Ejaz Qadeer, the head of medical team that conducted Nawaz Sharif’s medical checkup in the prison, suffered a heart attack on Sunday night.
According to sources, Dr Ejaz Qadeer of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), who was leading the team that examined ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif at Adiala Jail, was hospitalised last night after he suffered a heart attack.
Dr Ejaz was hospitalised at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), in Islamabad.
The sources added that he is a heart patient and has undergone heart surgery before.
The medical board for Nawaz’s checkup headed by Dr Qadeer also comprised PIMS Head of Cardiology Dr Naeem Malik, Medical Specialist Dr Shajee Siddiqui, Dr Sohail Tanvir and Dr Mashood.
On Sunday, Nawaz Sharif was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) after doctors suggested to move the former premier to coronary care unit (CCU) for better treatment as his health deteriorates in Adila Jail.
The medical board headed by Dr Ejaz Qadeer carried out medical checkup of the former PM after he complained about pain in his arm and heart.
PIMS team said that Nawaz Sharif was unwell as he is suffering from heart disease, glyceride, cholesterol and diabetes and Nawaz’s ECG was not satisfactory.
The PIMS’ cardiac ward had been declared a sub-jail on the orders of the caretaker government.
