Yemen cancel defense agreement with UAE, demands withdrawal of forces

Yemen (Web Desk): The Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen has announced the cancellation of its defense cooperation agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking the end of their joint defense alliance.

According to Rashad al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Council, all UAE military forces present in Yemen have been instructed to leave the country within 24 hours.

Additionally, the Yemeni government has enforced a 72-hour complete blockade on all ports, land, and sea routes in order to prevent any unauthorized military activities and ensure the protection of the country's sovereignty.

This decision comes at a time when a Saudi-led military coalition carried out limited airstrikes in Yemen, targeting the Mukalla Port. According to the Saudi coalition, this action was aimed at the Southern Transitional Council (STC), a separatist group supported by the UAE.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia expressed concern over these developments, stating that the UAE's recent activities pose a threat to the stability of the region, and emphasized the need for patience and dialogue to de-escalate tensions.

The cancellation of the defense agreement between Yemen and the UAE, along with the immediate military withdrawal, has further complicated the political and military situation in the region. Experts suggest that the impacts of this move could significantly affect regional politics in the coming days.
