Hajj Policy 2027-30: Intending pilgrims to be selected through digital waiting list

Islamabad (Web Desk): The government has approved a new procedure for Hajj admissions under the Hajj Policy 2027-2030, with pilgrims to be accommodated through a digital waiting list based strictly on the order in which applications are received.

Announcing the policy at a press briefing in Islamabad, Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said applicants will be able to reserve a place for the Hajj year of their choice after depositing 10 percent of the estimated total cost of the pilgrimage.

He said the Government Hajj Scheme will introduce a variety of packages with different travel durations, giving pilgrims more options to choose from.

Under the revised framework, 60 percent of Pakistan's Hajj quota will remain under the government scheme, while the remaining 40 percent will be assigned to private Hajj operators.

The minister also stated that all payments related to Hajj will be made exclusively through government-approved banking channels to ensure a secure and standardized financial process.

Sardar Muhammad Yousaf further said that independent third-party auditors will examine every aspect of the Hajj arrangements, adding that the measure is intended to promote greater transparency and accountability in the organization of the annual pilgrimage.
