Lahore (Web Desk): Quetta Gladiators delivered a stunning performance on Tuesday night, defeating Multan Sultans by 10 wickets in the 18th match of PSL 10 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore marking their first-ever win by this margin in Pakistan Super League history.
Chasing a modest target of 90 runs, the Gladiators openers, Finn Allen and Saud Shakeel, made the run chase look effortless. Allen was particularly aggressive, hammering 45 off just 21 balls, while Shakeel played a fluent knock of 42 off 20 deliveries. The duo chased down the total in only 8.1 overs, with an astonishing 79 balls to spare.
Allen took the initiative in the second over, dispatching David Willey for two sixes and a four, setting the tone early. Quetta raced to 74 without loss by the end of the powerplay, showcasing complete control over the chase.
Earlier, Multan Sultans had a nightmare with the bat after choosing to bat first. Khurram Shahzad wreaked havoc, picking up four crucial wickets and reducing the Sultans to 20-4 inside the first four overs. His victims included Yasir Khan, Usman Khan, Kamran Ghulam, and Curtis Campher.
The Sultans found no breathing room, as Faheem Ashraf removed both Iftikhar Ahmed and Michael Bracewell, further weakening the innings. Contributions from the lower order remained minimal, with David Willey falling to Wasim Jr, and two run-outs Usama Mir and Mohammad Hasnain adding to the collapse.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan offered the only resistance, scoring a defiant 44 runs, but his dismissal by Ubaid Shah ended the innings at a mere 89 in 17 overs.
It was a complete team performance from Quetta, with Shahzad leading the attack, and Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim Jr supporting with two wickets each. The win not only secured Quetta's fourth victory of the season but also significantly enhanced their standing in the tournament.
