Court grants two-day physical remand of Fawad Chaudhry in sedition case

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): A local court on Saturday sent PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry on a two-day physical remand in a sedition case filed against the former minister by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for allegedly inciting violence against the electoral body.

Judicial Magistrate Waqas Ahmed Raja announced, earlier the day, reserved verdict after a district and sessions court accepted the Islamabad Police’s plea overturning a decision that sent the former minister on judicial remand and rejected Fawad’s plea to discharge him from the sedition case.

The court, in the verdict, ordered the Islamabad Police to produce Fawad before his court on Monday (January 30) upon the expiry of his remand.

On Friday, the court sent Fawad Chaudhry to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in the case.

The PTI leader was produced before the court after the completion of two-day physical remand in a sedition case.

During the hearing, the prosecutor requested the court to extend physical remand of the former minister as the investigation team needed more time to complete the probe.
