At least 7 killed, several injured in blast near South Waziristan peace committee office

Wana (Web Desk): At least seven people lost their lives and several others sustained injuries in a powerful explosion that took place near the premises of a local peace committee in the Wana tehsil of Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa’s (KP) South Waziristan district.

Confirming the causalities, deputy commissioner Nasir Khan stated that the explosion occurred in close proximity to the committee’s office, claiming seven lives and wounding sixteen others.

The injured were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) in Wana for emergency medical care.

According to police sources, the blast resulted in the complete destruction of the peace committee building.

Law enforcement and local authorities have begun a formal probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

So far, no organization or militant group has come forward to claim responsibility for the attack.

In a statement KP’s Health Adviser Ehtesham Ali condemned the violent act and confirmed that seven bodies had been transported to the hospital.

He added that approximately 15 injured individuals were receiving treatment at the facility, where a state of emergency was declared in the aftermath of the explosion. All staff leaves were immediately revoked to ensure adequate medical response.

However, there appeared to be discrepancies in the injury reports. While the health adviser cited around fifteen people injured, an official list from DHQ Wana indicated that a total of nine injured had actually been admitted following the blast.
