5.3 magnitude earthquake hits Peshawar, other areas in KP

Peshawar (Web Desk): Residents across several cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were alarmed as earthquake tremors rattled the region, prompting many to evacuate homes and offices while reciting prayers for safety.

The tremors were felt in Peshawar, Swabi, Swat, Buner, Bajaur, Chitral, Mansehra, and Malakand among other areas. Fortunately, no casualties or property damage have been reported.

According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake’s epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan. The quake registered a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 110 kilometers.

Meteorological and relevant authorities have urged the public to avoid rumors and remain cautious of potential aftershocks following the earthquake.
