Pakistan, China sign MoUs to boost bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors 

Changsha, China (Web Desk): Pakistan and China on Monday signed three separate memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to broaden cooperation in key sectors including desalination, agricultural technology, and the tea industry.

The agreements were witnessed by President Asif Ali Zardari, who is currently on a five-day official visit to China, and observed the formal exchange between relevant institutions of both countries.

The first MoU was signed between the Local Government Department of Sindh and Lucion Environmental Technology Group for a joint initiative on seawater desalination in Karachi. The project is designed to improve the city’s water availability and strengthen its supply system.

On behalf of the Government of Sindh, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon signed the agreement, while Yuhui, Secretary of the Party Branch and Chairman of Lucion Environmental Technology Group, signed for the Chinese side.

The second agreement was also inked between the Sindh Local Government Department and Long Ping Hi-tech Information Company, focusing on cooperation in the field of agricultural technology.

Sharjeel Inam Memon represented the Sindh government once again, while Chen Zhixin, Chairman of Longping High-Tech Information Company, signed on behalf of the Chinese side.

The third MoU covered collaboration in the tea sector and was signed between MESKAY & FEMTEE Trading Company, Hunan Tea Group, and Jiaolong International Technology (Hainan). The purpose of the agreement is to expand cooperation across all aspects of the tea industry, promote its development in both countries, and enhance economic, commercial, and people-to-people linkages.

Senator Saleem Mandviwalla signed the document on behalf of Pakistan, while Zhou Chongwang, Party Secretary and Chairman of Hunan Tea Group, and Hao Jiaolong, Chairman of Hainan Jiaolong International Trade Technology, signed for the Chinese side.

The ceremony was attended by several senior officials, including Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Investment and Public-Private Partnership Projects, Ali Hassan Barohi, Chief Secretary Sindh, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi.
