Parachinar (Web Desk): In a major development for residents of District Kurram, the long-inactive Parachinar Airport has been restored to operational status through joint efforts of the Pakistan Army and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
Following extensive upgradation work, successful landing and take-off trials were conducted at the airport under the supervision of security and technical experts.
Aviation units of the Pakistan Army reportedly carried out multiple test operations, completing several successful landings and take-offs.
After detailed inspection, experts declared the runway and related infrastructure compliant with modern aviation safety standards.
Officials said the restoration of the airport is expected to significantly improve connectivity between the remote border region and other parts of the country.
The operational airport will also facilitate emergency response operations, particularly in cases of natural disasters and medical emergencies.
Local residents have welcomed the development, appreciating the efforts of the Pakistan Army and FWO leadership. They expressed hope that the project will not only improve travel facilities but also contribute positively to the local economy.
