Khairpur (Web Desk): At least seven people, including four children, died after fire broke out in the bogie of the Karachi Express traveling from Karachi to Lahore near Khairpur district of Sindh province on Thursday.
According to Rescue sources, a fire broke out in bogie number 4 of the Karachi Express between Tando Masti and Khairpur.
They said that the woman jumped from the moving train and died after receiving severe injuries, whereas one person died of burns inside the bogie.
The children, killed in the incident, are said to belong to the same family.
The train was then immediately stopped near Tando Masti Khan station and an emergency was reported to the fire brigade. The first fire-fighting vehicles reached the spot at around 1:50am and after a struggle of about 40 minutes, the fire was brought under control.
Later, the authorities the affected coach and the train resumed its journey around 7:30am.
DS Sukkur, DCO Sukkur, and other railway officers were present at the spot to supervise the rescue efforts and report to the railways ministry.
Taking strict notice of the incident, an investigation was ordered by the ministry.
