Islamabad (Staff Report): Director General religious affairs said on Friday that Ramazan-ul-Mubarak moon was not sighted anywhere in the country and, therefore, Sunday would be the first day of the fasting month.
However, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will make final announcement in this regard, the DG said.
The Met Department had already predicted that the start of the holy month from May 28, Sunday.
The holy fasting month of Ramadan is due to begin in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Saturday.
The announcements came after religious authorities in the two Gulf Arab states failed to sight the crescent moon on Thursday night, state media reported.
