PM Shehbaz, Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim discuss Middle East crisis and peace efforts

Islamabad (Web Desk): Malaysia has reaffirmed its strong support for Pakistan’s initiatives to foster peace and address the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim conveyed this stance during a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday.

The discussion was described as warm and cordial, with PM Shehbaz expressing gratitude to his Malaysian counterpart and assuring him that Pakistan remains committed to sincere and effective efforts to ease tensions in the region.

He also expressed deep appreciation for Malaysia’s endorsement of Pakistan’s leadership and its backing of Pakistan-led mediation initiatives aimed at ending hostilities.

PM Shehbaz also briefed the Malaysian premier on recent diplomatic activities, including consultations with leaders from friendly Gulf nations and Iran, intended to encourage direct dialogue between the United States (US) and Iran.

Acknowledging Shehbaz Sharif’s proactive leadership, PM Anwar Ibrahim shared details of his own interactions with global leaders, in which he too stressed the urgent necessity to halt the conflict in the Middle East.

The two sides also exchanged Eid-ul-Fitr greetings and prayed for unity and progress of the Ummah.

Both the leaders also greed to remain in touch.
