PM Shehbaz, Malaysian counterpart discuss bilateral ties, regional developments

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke by telephone with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Friday, with the two leaders exchanging views on bilateral relations, regional developments and efforts to promote peace.

At the beginning of the conversation, Shehbaz Sharif asked about Anwar Ibrahim’s health and conveyed his sincere wishes for his early and full recovery.

The two leaders welcomed the steady improvement in relations between Pakistan and Malaysia and agreed to build further on the progress achieved so far.

They placed particular emphasis on expanding economic engagement, especially in the areas of trade and investment.

The discussion also covered developments in the region, with the situation in the Gulf receiving particular attention.

Anwar Ibrahim commended Pakistan’s efforts to advance peace and stability in the region. He also expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their leadership and contribution to these initiatives.

PM Shehbaz thanked Malaysia for its continued backing of Pakistan’s regional peace efforts. 
He said Pakistan remained committed to working in close coordination with friendly and brotherly nations, including Malaysia, to support greater prospects for peace and stability in the Middle East.

The two leaders also agreed to hold a face-to-face meeting at a mutually suitable time in the near future.

PM Shehbaz also reiterated his invitation to Prime Minister Dr. Anwar Ibrahim to undertake an official visit to Pakistan, at his earliest convenience.
