PM Shehbaz approves advanced digital ecosystem for FBR reforms

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while chairing a high-level meeting, reviewed the ongoing reforms within the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and approved the development of a modern, globally integrated digital ecosystem to enhance the institution's efficiency.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress of the reforms, the Prime Minister stated that these initiatives are steering Pakistan’s economy in a positive direction. He emphasized that digitization alone is not enough — a comprehensive and interconnected digital framework is essential to strengthen the entire system.

He directed that data related to raw material imports, production, and manufacturing processes should be consolidated into a single system to ensure real-time digital monitoring and oversight.

The Prime Minister further stated that this centralized digital database will serve as a foundation for strategic economic decision-making, allowing for more accurate and data-driven policy formulation. He highlighted the importance of expanding the tax base and bringing the informal economy into the formal sector to increase national revenue collection.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister instructed FBR to engage internationally recognized experts to ensure that the reform process is effective, transparent, and aligned with global standards.
