Pakistan, UAE hold 'substantive talks' during President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's maiden official visit

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have renewed their commitment to broaden cooperation in key areas such as the economy, investment, energy, infrastructure development, information technology, modern technologies and people-to-people interaction.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Islamabad on Thursday.

Both leaders agreed that bilateral trade can be significantly expanded and holds strong promise for mutually beneficial and sustainable growth.

They also shared views on major regional and international developments and reaffirmed their resolve to maintain close coordination on issues of common interest.

While welcoming the steady progress in Pakistan-UAE relations, the two sides expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum and reiterated their joint determination to work closely for peace, regional stability and long-term development.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed held substantive talks with PM Shehbaz, focusing on strengthening the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two countries.

The two leaders reviewed ongoing cooperation and explored fresh avenues to enhance engagement across a broad range of sectors.

The visit of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will further consolidate the strong brotherly relationship between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and give added strength to their strategic partnership.

It is pertinent to note that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, undertook the official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, marking his first official trip to the country in his capacity as President.

On arrival, His Highness was accorded an exceptionally warm and respectful welcome. As the royal aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, it was escorted by a formation of JF-17 fighter jets.

At Nur Khan Airbase, the UAE President and his high-level delegation were received by PM Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Senior cabinet members and other government officials were also present to receive the distinguished guest.
