London: Former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday talked to reporters and announced that much awaited return of PMLN leader Nawaz Sharif will be in October.
“After discussion with the party leadership and Mian Nawaz Sharif, we have decided our leader will return to Pakistan in October,” party president Shehbaz Sharif told reporters in London on Friday.
Shehbaz made the statement in response to a question about media reports suggesting that Nawaz would return to Pakistan in mid-October. He further added upon question of Nawaz’s cases that “He will return to Pakistan and face the courts. Transparent accountability should take place across the board for all institutions”.
However, the party leadership had only announced that Nawaz Sharif will return on October. According to sources the elder Sharif was eager to return to Pakistan ahead of the elections, there was still no clear timeline. The PMLN leadership fears that Nawaz may get imprisoned upon return, as he has been declared an absconder by the courts, and his appeals are still pending.
While talking to media former PM criticized CJP for ‘double standards’ on well-being of jailed politicians, Sharif said where Umar Ata Bandial was when Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz were in jail? He further said that Nawaz Sharif and his daughter were forced to sleep on floor they were told that you will have to eat jail food.
He added that Nawaz Sharif was not named in Panama Leaks but The PML-N leader was implicated in the Panama case through a conspiracy. He said that no one has even asked about the other people involved in the Panama case, the decision taken on the basis of Iqama was malice
