Islamabad (Staff Report): Prime Minister Imran Khan has constituted a committee to review the role and functioning of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
Chairing the first meeting of NACTA on Tuesday, PM Khan called for a revision of the organisation's framework and formulation of its mandate within a week's time.
He stressed the need for revisiting the role of NACTA to make it more effective and proactive organization in view of challenges facing the country.
The meeting reviewed the progress on the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).
The meeting was attended by Ministers for Defence, Finance, Law, chief ministers of all the four provinces and Gilgit Baltistan, Prime Minister AJK, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) director general, NACTA coordinator, chief secretaries and others.
The NACTA coordinator gave a detailed briefing on the mandate and role of the organization since its establishment as a premier body for policy formulation and implementation of strategies aimed at countering terrorism and extremism in the country.
