Mianwali (Web Desk): The Punjab Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), in a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO), successfully neutralized ten Khawarij terrorists in the hilly region of Makarwal in the Mianwali district, a CTD spokesperson stated on Thursday night.
The operation was initiated following intelligence about a group of 10 to 15 militants in the area.
During the confrontation, intense gunfire broke out, resulting in the deaths of the ten terrorists, who were reportedly shot by their own colleagues.
Fortunately, all officers from the CTD and Elite police remained safe during the exchange, the spokesperson said.
"A search continued in the area, while efforts were afoot to identify the killed terrorists," he added.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the Punjab Police for their timely and decisive response, expressing national pride in their bravery.
He reiterated the government’s determination to continue fighting against terrorism until it is completely eradicated.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar applauded the CTD and police forces for their successful operation against the militants.
