Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday said that the negative propaganda, being spread on social media, is aimed at creating uncertainty and hopelessness in the country.
Addressing the participants of Pakistan National Youth Conference in Islamabad, the army chief stressed the need for double checking the news on social media as he expressed confidence in the upcoming generation.
“Without proper research and positive thinking, there will be a chaos in the society,” he said.
Citing verses of the Holy Quran on disinformation, he said : “Allah Almighty says : ‘O believers! If a transgressor brings news, you should firstly confirm it’.”
Expressing full confidence in the bright future of Pakistan and upholding the past glory of forefathers, the army chief said that Allah Almighty has bestowed Pakistan with numerous mineral resources, agriculture and young human capital.
Syed Asim Munir said he is feeling immense pleasure while interacting with the future leaders of Pakistan and eagles of Iqbal.
“The sole objective behind the creation of Pakistan was that our religion, civilization and culture are totally different from that of Hindus but it does not mean that we should adopt western culture,” the COAS said, adding that the youth should trust their country, nation, culture and civilization.
The army chief said the youth of Pakistan should believe that they belong to a great country and nation.
“Our youngsters are the torchbearers of bright traditions of the country and the nation as well as the true outcome of the dreams of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam,” the COAS said.
He said that a Muslim always offered gratitude to Allah Almighty for patience in turbulent and good times. “Our forces are always ready against any kind of threat and conspiracy. If Pakistan exists, so we do, if there is no Pakistan then we are nothing, the COAS said.”
He said that Pakistan will never compromise its sovereignty.
General Asim Munir said that the armed forces can fight terrorists but they too need cooperation and support of the entire nation.
The COAS urged the youth for having full faith in the bright future and maintaining the legacy of the ancestors.
