From Pakistan to Silicon Valley: An entrepreneur's heroic journey

Muhammad Usman Khadim

Silicon Valley CA – Umar, a driven Pakistani entrepreneur, has earned a full scholarship to attend Draper University's prestigious Hero Training program this Fall.

He is the sole representative from Pakistan in the Fall 2024 cohort, joining 72 founders from 27 countries for the intensive five-week program. His participation is supported by Povo.ai, an AI startup backed by the Relymer Group.

The cohort, with an average age of 32, brings a wealth of experience to the program, having collectively raised over $20 million in funding and generated $7 million in Annual Recurring
Revenue (ARR). Draper University's program provides a dynamic environment and cutting-edge resources to empower these entrepreneurs to develop impactful ventures.

During the program, participants formed ten teams to navigate a challenging five-week survival scenario. Umar's team, "WONDER," emerged victorious, earning first place for their dedication and effort. His teammates included Enzo Moriconi, Andres Cooper, Athalis Kratouni, Sujit Velmurugan, and Nursultan D.

Their reward? A complimentary skydiving experience at Silicon SkyDiving.

Draper University, founded by renowned Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper, has a proven track record of nurturing successful entrepreneurs.

Draper's portfolio includes industry giants like Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter, and many others. Unlike traditional institutions that focus on job placement, Draper University measures its success by the fact that its average graduate creates five jobs.

The university has trained thousands of “heroes,” with one graduate even building a billion-dollar company.

Umar is the Founder and CEO of Relymer Group, a leading Pakistani company specializing in blockchain and AI product development. He also serves on the board of the Web3 Alliance Pakistan, promoting the growth of the country's blockchain ecosystem.

The Alliance facilitates knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and exploration of new opportunities within the blockchain space through monthly events. Umar is also a recognized mentor and speaker at blockchain hackathons globally.

The core principles of Draper University are embodied in the Hero’s Oath, a pledge written by Tim Draper, which participants recite daily. The oath emphasizes freedom, progress, personal development, resilience, and ethical conduct.

"I believe that future entrepreneurs will benefit greatly from experiential learning opportunities like those offered by Draper University and the Rines Angel Fund," said Umar.

"By embracing both the art and science of entrepreneurship, the entire entrepreneurial ecosystem can thrive. This holistic approach aligns perfectly with the Draper Hero Training Program, providing an excellent pathway to connect with the Bay Area’s vibrant entrepreneurial network.”
