Renowned Urdu poet Tabish Dehlvi remembered on death anniversary 

Karachi (Web Desk): The 21st death anniversary of Urdu poet and broadcaster Tabish Dehlvi is being observed on Tuesday, paying tribute to his literary contributions and services to Urdu language.

Born on November 9, 1911, in Delhi under British India, he was originally named Syed Masood-ul-Hasan and grew up under the influence of the Delhi School of poetry.

Following the Partition, he settled in Pakistan and became part of Radio Pakistan in Karachi, where his refined style and eloquence earned him recognition as a broadcaster and newsreader.

Over the course of his literary journey, he produced several admired poetry collections, including Neemroz, Chiragh-e-Sehra, Ghubar-e-Anjum, and Mah-e-Shikasta, while his complete works were later compiled under the title Kisht-e-Nawa.

In addition to ghazals and nazms, he enriched Urdu literature with naats, marsias, essays, and prose, preserving the essence of the classical tradition.

In 1998, his contributions were acknowledged with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan.

Tabish Dehlvi passed away in Karachi on September 23, 2004, after a short illness, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in Urdu poetry and broadcasting.
