Field Marshal Asim Munir says Pakistan-Egypt defence cooperation vital to bolster regional peace, stability

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has said that Egypt is a brotherly Islamic nation and that enhanced defence cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt will play a vital role in promoting regional peace and stability.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir is currently on an official visit to Egypt aimed at strengthening military ties and expanding defence collaboration between the two countries.

During his visit, Field Marshal Munir held meetings with Egypt’s Minister of Defence and Military Production, General Abdel Majeed Saqar, and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fathi.

The discussions covered matters of mutual interest, regional security developments, and avenues for enhanced defence cooperation.

The army chief emphasized the need to jointly counter extremist ideologies and distorted interpretations of Islam, stressing collective efforts from both nations to promote unity and moderation.

He also met Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University, who shared his views on the challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah.

During his visit to Egypt’s Ministry of Defence, Field Marshal Asim Munir was presented with a guard of honour.He also laid floral wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the grave of former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.
