Pakistan's efforts in ongoing US-Iran mediation gradually moving towards "positive outcome": Khawaja Asif

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday that Pakistan’s ongoing mediation efforts between the United States and Iran are gradually moving closer towards a "positive outcome", adding that through these diplomatic initiatives, Pakistan is playing a crucial role in preventing a major global crisis.

Speaking to a private news channel in Sialkot, the defence minister described recent high-level visits as highly significant.

He said that the recent visit to Iran by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi serves as clear evidence and a strong indication that the matter is now approaching a logical resolution.

The defence minister expressed hope that Pakistan’s sincere diplomatic efforts would soon succeed, paving the way for lasting peace not only for Pakistan and the region but for the entire world.

Khawaja Asif also elaborated on the economic impact of the ongoing tensions, stating that the situation has not only halted Pakistan’s economic recovery but has in fact reversed it, with direct consequences for ordinary citizens.

He acknowledged the government’s concern over the prevailing conditions, noting that many people are struggling to secure even two meals a day in the current economic climate.

The defence minister further stressed that if peace is achieved in the region, it would significantly ease economic pressures and help stabilize the situation, ultimately enabling the government to provide relief to the public.
