Faisalabad (Staff Report): An anti-terrorism court on Thursday awarded 18 years and six months jail to a lawyer for beating up a civil judge.
A fine of Rs0.2 million has also been imposed on him.
Advocate Imran Manjh threw a chair at senior civil judge Khalid Mahmood Warriach in Jaranwala on April 25 during an argument in court. The judge suffered a head injury as a result of the attack.
Judges had protested against the attack, following which advocate Imran was arrested by the police and a case was filed against him in the anti-terrorism court.
Lawyers were enraged after the verdict and reached the ATC. They tried to enter the court but couldn't because it was locked. They even tried to break the lock.
