California (Web Desk): If you’ve ever created a beautiful username on X (formerly Twitter) and later abandoned it, this news might catch your attention! X has announced it will sell inactive usernames through its marketplace.
According to the company, these usernames will be available to X's premium and premium business users. A new feature has been added: some usernames will be offered for free under the "priority" category, meaning they are likely to be longer and perhaps less unique. Meanwhile, other more unique and shorter usernames, labeled as "Rare," could be priced in the thousands or even millions of dollars.
However, these usernames cannot be resold, as ownership will not be transferred to the users. A lingering question remains: Will previous owners of these usernames receive any financial benefit from this move? The company has not provided any clarification on this matter.
