Gaza (Web Desk/Agencies): At least 33 Palestinians lost their lives on Monday due to Israeli airstrikes in the northern Gaza Strip, according to local sources.
Reports indicate that the Israeli military targeted a school in the Jabalia refugee camp, which was serving as a shelter for displaced individuals.
Witnesses claimed that the military instructed those inside the school to gather for evacuation before bombarding it with multiple artillery shells, resulting in the deaths of seven people, including women and children, and leaving many others injured.
Additionally, medical teams recovered the bodies of ten victims at another shelter site in the camp following an Israeli artillery attack.
Paramedics also reported that six Palestinians, mostly children, were killed, and several others were injured during an Israeli strike while they were filling water in the Jabalia area.
As per the civil defense agency, in Beit Hanoun, three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli attack on a school housing displaced persons, while seven others, including children, died when an Israeli strike hit a house in the Zarqa area north of Gaza City.
The agency noted that the Israeli military has been besieging tens of thousands of Palestinians in their homes in the northern part of Gaza, preventing access to food and water for the past 17 days.
The Israeli army has been conducting a ground operation in the Jabalia camp, one of the largest Palestinian refugee camps, since early October, claiming that the operation aims to disrupt Hamas fighters’ efforts to regroup for future attacks.
It is pertinent to mention that at least 42,603 people have been martyred and 99,795 wounded in Israeli aggression against Palestinians since October 7, 2023.
