Burgenstock (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday Pakistan will continue to play its honest and sincere role in advancing dialogue and diplomacy towards a peaceful and lasting resolution of the prevailing global situation.
In a post shared on his X handle today, the premier said Alhamdulillah, the First High-Level Committee Meeting under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has concluded successfully in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.

PM Shehbaz said the discussions were held in a positive and constructive atmosphere and yielded encouraging progress, including agreement on a roadmap toward a final deal within 60 days, the establishment of a High-Level Committee to provide political oversight and the commencement of further technical talks.
He commended the leadership of both the United States (US) as well as Iran for their continued commitment to constructive engagement, and thanked all brotherly and friendly countries for their valuable support in advancing this historic process.
PM Shehbaz expressed gratitude to brotherly country Qatar, for its critical support in creating the conditions necessary for these negotiations to move forward.
He also thanked the Swiss government for its facilitation in hosting these talks.
The premier paid special tribute to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir whose untiring efforts made these talks a success, saying that his dedication, commitment and perseverance are indeed commendable without which there would have been no progress.
PM Shehbaz also praised Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, for his diplomatic efforts along with his team at the Foreign Office (FO).
He also appreciated the hard work of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi who contributed immensely to the success of these talks.
The prime minister said Pakistan would continue supporting efforts aimed at resolving disputes through dialogue.

Earlier, a joint statement released by mediating countries Pakistan and Qatar said that the US and Iran have agreed on a comprehensive roadmap to reach a final peace deal within the next 60 days, while also establishing a dedicated arrangement to help bring an end to the conflict in Lebanon.
The statement said that delegates from Iran, the US, and the two mediating countries, Qatar and Pakistan, took part in the discussions. The negotiations are scheduled to continue throughout the week at the Burgenstock resort, where all outstanding issues will remain under consideration.
The talks were attended by top leaders from the participating sides, including US Vice President JD Vance, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, each heading their respective delegations.
As part of the new framework, Washington and Tehran agreed to establish a direct channel of communication intended to prevent incidents at sea and facilitate secure navigation through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz.
“The Lake Lucerne Summit was conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere. Encouraging progress has been made, including the creation of a mechanism for further technical talks,” the statement said.
According to the joint declaration, the parties have decided to create a High-Level Committee under the MoU framework to supervise the mediation process at the political level. Chief negotiators will provide regular updates to the committee and oversee working groups dealing with nuclear matters, sanctions, monitoring, and dispute resolution, along with other relevant issues, to ensure effective implementation of the agreement.
The statement added that the High-Level Committee has endorsed a roadmap designed to achieve a final settlement within 60 days, clearing the way for immediate follow-up technical discussions.
Pakistan and Qatar reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating the negotiations and pledged to continue working to maintain a constructive environment conducive to achieving a lasting agreement.
Following the conclusion of the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi welcomed the progress achieved through the mediation efforts, stating, “Tireless Pakistani and Qatari mediation has delivered major progress to end Lebanon War. Oil and petrochem exports are waived, blockade lifted, some frozen assets released, and major reconstruction and development plan launched for Iran.”
Referring to the next stage of implementation, he added, “1st real test: Lebanon deconfliction cell.”
