China reaffirms support for Pakistan's mediation role for durable peace and stability in region

Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday held a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, during which China praised Pakistan’s role in helping reduce regional tensions and reiterated its strong support for Islamabad’s mediation efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability.

According to an official statement, the Chinese envoy conveyed Beijing’s appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive contribution to de-escalation processes and reaffirmed China’s continued backing of Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives in the region.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar briefed the Chinese ambassador on recent developments related to high-level discussions on implementing the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.

He also shared details of his recent visit to Cairo, where he attended the R-4 Regional Foreign Ministers’ Meeting alongside counterparts from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, focusing on coordinated efforts to promote dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes.

The deputy prime minister thanked China for its consistent support for Pakistan’s peace-oriented efforts, particularly acknowledging President Xi Jinping’s Four-Point Proposal and the China-Pakistan Five-Point Initiative as important contributions to regional diplomacy.

Both sides emphasized the need for continued diplomatic engagement and stressed that all outstanding issues should be resolved through dialogue and negotiations rather than confrontation.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment, Ishaq Dar said Islamabad would continue close consultations and coordination with Beijing to advance shared objectives of peace, stability, and development, while further strengthening the Pakistan–China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
