PM calls Iranian President, condemns US strikes

Islamabad  (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephonic conversation in which both leaders discussed the recent developments in the region and the rising tensions following the U.S. attacks.

During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Iran and strongly condemned the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. He expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the urgent need for immediate negotiations and diplomatic efforts to restore peace. He stated:

"The U.S. attacks are a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter."
He further highlighted that under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Iran has the right to self-defense.

Both leaders agreed to maintain close and continuous communication given the sensitive situation in the region.

President Masoud Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s support for Iran and expressed the desire to strengthen bilateral relations further.
