Islamabad (Web Desk): The integration of the ultra-high-capacity Africa-1 submarine cable into Pakistan’s telecommunications infrastructure represents a pivotal development in enhancing the nation’s digital landscape.
With the successful landing of the cable at Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited’s (PTCL) site at Sea View Beach in Karachi, Pakistan solidifies its position as an increasingly interconnected player in global digital networks.
According to a news release issued by the PTCL, this event follows PTCL’s strategic decision to join the Africa-1 cable system consortium, a partnership designed to elevate the country's connectivity with essential international digital hubs.
The Africa-1 cable system, spanning 10,000 kilometers and utilizing cutting-edge technological advancements, establishes direct links between Pakistan and several critical international locations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, France, Kenya, and Djibouti.
This infrastructure will not only bolster intercontinental data transmission capabilities but also reinforce Pakistan’s role in facilitating global communication, with the cable's termination point at PTCL's Misrishah Exchange in Karachi further enhancing the country’s telecom ecosystem.
This infrastructure initiative aligns with Pakistan’s broader strategic vision for digital growth, particularly its Digital Vision 2030, which seeks to bridge the digital divide and catalyze innovation within the country.
As per the statement, by forging strong, high-capacity connections with key global networks, PTCL aims to significantly enhance internet service quality, positioning the company as a leading telecommunications provider in the region.
