PM Shehbaz, Iranian ambassador discuss regional situation and peace efforts

Islamabad (Web Desk): Iran's Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The focus of the important meeting was regional security, peace efforts, and ongoing diplomatic developments.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi also attended the meeting.

During the discussion, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance on regional stability, stating that Pakistan opposes any form of conflict in the region and will continue to support all efforts aimed at promoting peace.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening peace, stability, and bilateral cooperation.

Following the meeting, the Prime Minister also chaired a high-level session to review the situation in the Middle East after the extension of the ceasefire by US President Donald Trump against Iran. 

The meeting assessed Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts and agreed on key points, including Pakistan’s active role in facilitating a second round of talks between the concerned parties.

It was also emphasized that the international community should be mobilized to transform the ceasefire into lasting peace.

The prime minister directed diplomatic missions to remain in close contact with relevant countries to help prevent further instability in the region.
