Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth of Muharram-ul-Haram, is being observed today (Friday) across the country with due solemnity to pay homage to the supreme sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his 72 devoted companions in Karbala.
Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions will be taken out in all cities and towns of the country. Ulema and Zakireen will highlight the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.) and various aspects of Karbla tragedy.
Meanwhile, elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure security of mourning processions and majalis. Police and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed to ensure law and order situation.
Punjab
In Lahore, Majalis have been planned while processions of 10th Muharram-ul-Haram will also be taken out from different parts of city.
Around midnight last night, the main process of 10th Muharram-ul-Haram was taken out from Nisar Haveli, inside Mochi Gate, which will be concluded at Karbala Gaamay Shah this evening, after passing through its traditional route inside the Lahore Walled City.
Thousands of police personnel and other law enforcement departments have been deputed on routes of all processions to avoid any untoward incident while CCTV cameras have been installed on the routes of processions especially the main processions.
Meanwhile, a Monitoring Cell is functional at IG Office Lahore to monitor the Muharram-ul-Haram processions.
Similar processions will also be taken in other cities across the province.
In Rawalpindi, the central procession of Ashura will emerge from Colonel Maqbool Imambargah which after passing through its traditional route will culminate at the Qadeemi Imambargah.
Sindh
In Karachi, Small and big Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions will be taken out from different parts of city.
Main procession will be taken out from Nishter Park. The procession after passing through its tradition routes will terminate at Imam Bargh Hussania Irania Kharadar.
According to administration, huge contingents of police have been deployed on the routes of processions and around imambargahs to avert any untoward incident.
KP
In Peshawar, the main Alam and Zuljinnah procession of 10th Muharram will be taken out from Imambargah Alamdar-e Karbala Qissa Khawani Bazaar after Zuhar prayer today.
More than ten other processions will be taken from other Imambargahs which will join the main procession. The processions after passing through traditional routes will terminate at their starting point in the evening.
Tight security measures have been taken to ensure peaceful atmosphere on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashur.
Similar processions will also be taken in different parts of the province.
About thirty-three thousand personnel of police, levies and law enforcing agencies have been deployed in different parts of the province where Muharram processions will be taken out.
Balochistan
In Quetta, Small and big Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions will be taken out from different parts of city.
Main procession will be taken out from Rehmat Ullah chowk Alamdar road. The procession after passing through its tradition routes will terminate at Alamdar road.
According to administration, huge contingents of police have been deployed on the routes of processions and around imambargahs to avert any untoward incident.
Gilgit-Baltistan
Youm-e-Ashur is also being observed today in Gilgit-Baltistan.
To pay reverence to supreme sacrifices rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A.) and his companions in Karbala processions are being organized in all three divisions.
In Gilgit, the main Ashur procession will start from Jama Imamia mosque at 8 am which passing through traditional route will culminate in same place in the evening.
Gilgit-Baltistan administration has made security plan to ensure protection of mourners during Ashur processions.
Meanwhile, traffic on Karakorum Highway between Rawalpindi and Gilgit-Baltistan will not be suspended today.
Moreover, mobile phone service will remain partially suspended in major cities especially on the routes of the main youm-e-Ashure processions.
Pak-Afghan border at Chaman and Pak-Iran border at Taftan will also remain closed on the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram.
