President Arif Alvi approves Justice Qazi Faez Isa's appointment as next CJP

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Dr Arif Alvi Wednesday approved senior puisne judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa's appointment as the next chief justice of Pakistan (CJP).

Justice Isa's appointment will come into effect on September 17 , after the retirement of the incumbent CJP, Justice Umar Ata Bandial.

As per an announcement issued by the presidency, incumbent CJP Justice Umar Ata Bandial will reach the age of retirement on September 16, 2023, under Article 179 of the Constitution.

Naqvi refutes reports of talks with PTI, says dialogue can't be held under threats

"The president has appointed the chief justice under Article 175 of the Constitution," it said.
The announcement further said that The president will administer oath to Justice Qazi Faez Isa on September 17.
