PM Shehbaz introduces AI-based Prime Minister Office System

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday launched the Artificial Intelligence-based Prime Minister Office System (PMOS), describing it as a major step towards modernising governance and accelerating Pakistan’s digital transformation.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Islamabad, the Prime Minister directed all ministries and relevant government institutions to immediately implement the AI-powered platform, declaring that the era of traditional paper-based working would be replaced with a fully digital system.

Shehbaz Sharif said the Prime Minister Office System would transform the functioning of the federal government by digitally recording, communicating, monitoring, and tracking every directive issued by the Prime Minister.

He said the platform would improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in government affairs.

Emphasising the shift towards paperless governance, the Prime Minister told government officials that from now onward he would no longer expect anyone to bring paper files to meetings, adding that all official discussions and decisions would be managed through the new digital mechanism.

The Prime Minister commended Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and the IT Ministry's officials, particularly the Secretary IT, for successfully developing and operationalising the platform.

He urged all ministries and government departments to adopt the system, saying it would significantly strengthen the government's capacity to deliver timely and measurable results.

During the ceremony, Shehbaz Sharif received a detailed briefing on the objectives, features, and capabilities of PMOS.

Officials informed him that it is Pakistan’s first government platform to integrate artificial intelligence as a core component of decision-making and implementation monitoring, making it a landmark initiative in the digital transformation of the federal government.

According to the briefing, PMOS has been developed at the centre of government to ensure seamless communication of the Prime Minister’s directives across ministries and departments while enabling their timely implementation in line with predefined quality standards.

Officials explained that the platform also serves as a secure technology-based decision-support system by combining structured information, real-time analytics, and data within a protected digital environment to support informed policymaking.

The Prime Minister was further informed that PMOS would enable continuous policy evaluation and adjustment by helping the government make more effective use of technological, financial, and human resources, ultimately improving governance and contributing to stronger economic outcomes.

Officials said the government plans to implement governance reforms at the Prime Minister’s Office first before expanding the AI-driven platform across the broader administrative structure.

At the core of the system is a comprehensive digital repository that records every directive issued by the Prime Minister along with the complete implementation process, creating a permanent institutional record and knowledge base for government decision-making while enhancing transparency and continuity in governance.
