PTI edges ahead in KP Senate battle with 6 seats, Opposition holds ground with 5

Peshawar (Web Desk): The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has won six out of the 11 Senate seats that were up for election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to reports, all 145 members of the KP Assembly took part in the voting on Monday and the PTI's candidates were successful in different categories, including general seats, technocrat, and women’s seats.

As per the unofficial and unconfirmed results, Murad Saeed from PTI received 26 votes and won a general seat. Faisal Javed and Noorul Haq Qadri, also from PTI, won general seats with 22 and 21 votes each. Rubina Naz, another PTI candidate, got 89 votes and secured a seat reserved for women. Mirza Afridi, also from PTI, won a general seat with 21 votes. On the technocrat seat, PTI’s Azam Swati came out on top.

Other winners include Rubina Khalid from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), who won a seat reserved for women. Talha Mahmood won a general seat, while while Niaz Ahmed of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) reached the upper house with 18 votes on a general seat.

 Dilawar Khan of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) secured the technocrat seat. Ataul Haq Darvesh, also from JUI-F, claimed another general seat.
