Renowned poet Syed Salman Gilani passes away at 75 in Lahore

Lahore (Web Desk): Renowned poet Syed Salman Gilani passed away in Lahore on Saturday. He was 75.

Born in 1951 in Lahore, he became widely admired for his distinctive contributions to ghazal, naat, and satirical verse.

Gilani's poetry often touched on love, sorrow, societal issues, and satire, earning him a broad and devoted audience.

Gilani was the son of Syed Amin Gilani, a respected poet who had played a notable role in political and national movements through his writing.

Following his father’s path, Salman Gilani nurtured the family’s literary tradition and gained significant recognition for his work in both religious and public spheres.

Throughout his life, he appeared frequently on news channels, and his poetry held special appeal among female listeners.

Gilani had been facing several health challenges and had recently undergone bypass surgery.

Over the years, he actively took part in mushairas, literary forums, political and public gatherings, as well as religious events, establishing a unique identity through his expressive and impactful style, leaving an indelible mark on Pakistan’s literary and cultural landscape.
