PML-N Senator Kalsoom Parveen passes away due to COVID-19

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator from Balochistan Kalsoom Parveen passed away due to COVID-19 in Islamabad.

According to details, the 75-year-old Senator was admitted to the hospital for the last few weeks after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.

President Dr Arif Alvi has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Senator Kalsoom Parveen.

In a statement, the President prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and commiserated with the bereaved family.

Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Deputy Chairman Senate Saleem Mandviwala, Leader of the House in the Senate Dr Shahzad Waseem and the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Raja Zafar-ul-Haq also expressed condolence over the death of Senator Kalsoom Parveen.

In a statement, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani said she did not only serve the people in underdeveloped areas of Balochistan but also played an important role in Pakistani politics.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also expressed grief and sorrow over passing of Kalsoom Parveen.

Kalsoom Perveen assumed office as a senator in March 2015 and was due to retire next year.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 458,968 on Monday after 1,792 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 9,392 with 62 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 409,082 after another 1,680 virus recoveries were reported in a day.
