Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan and China have agreed to broaden their collaboration across key sectors, including industry, agriculture, and mining, while also deepening cultural exchange and strengthening connections between their people.
This consensus was reached during the sixth round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue, held in Islamabad on Thursday.
The high-level meeting was jointly chaired by Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
During a joint press briefing following the meeting, the Chinese foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s strong support for Pakistan’s economic progress and resilience.
FM Wang Yi emphasized that the current focus for both nations is to ensure high-quality growth under an upgraded framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He noted that both sides intend to build upon past successes, adding that the partnership will now include the development of additional corridors.
The two sides also agreed to work together in advancing operations at the Gwadar Port and pushing forward the realignment of the Karakoram Highway.
Furthermore, Wang Yi welcomed the idea of third-party participation in the Main Line-1 (ML-1) railway project, a major undertaking for Pakistan Railways.
Expressing solidarity with the Pakistani people following the recent floods, the Chinese Foreign Minister announced immediate humanitarian aid from China to support those affected by the disaster.
He also praised Pakistan’s relentless counter-terrorism efforts and recognized the significant sacrifices the country has made in that regard.
FM Wang Yi expressed confidence in Pakistan’s continued success against terrorism and said both countries are committed to further strengthening their cooperation in the field of security and counter-terrorism.
Referring to the broader geopolitical context in South Asia and ongoing global shifts, FM Wang Yi said that China and Pakistan will maintain close coordination and work together to overcome shared challenges.
He reiterated China's position in favour of peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue.
The Chinese FM described the enduring partnership between the two nations as “ironclad” and resilient, underscoring that their all-weather strategic cooperative relationship remains unshakable.
Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar characterized his discussions with Wang Yi as comprehensive and constructive.
He stated that the two sides engaged in detailed talks covering all aspects of their bilateral ties, particularly CPEC, trade, investment, and cooperation between citizens of both countries.
Dar also revealed that preparations are underway for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to China, during which he will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State Summit and hold meetings with China's top leadership, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.
A Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference is also planned as part of the visit.
DPM Dar highlighted that the two nations will mark the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship next year.
To commemorate this milestone, both countries have agreed to host a range of events and programs throughout the year. He reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to further enhancing this deeply rooted partnership through greater collaboration in all areas.
He also expressed appreciation for China’s steadfast backing of Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity, and reaffirmed Islamabad’s full support for China on all issues of core interest.
The deputy prime minister emphasized the importance of resolving outstanding matters through sincere dialogue and adherence to international norms.
He added that the two sides will maintain close cooperation in multilateral platforms, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
