Islamabad (Web Desk): The newly appointed Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has arrived in UK to meet PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharifm prior to hold talks with IMF in Washington regarding the revival of the $6 billion programme signed by the PTI government.
In May 2019, Pakistan and the IMF staff-level agreement on economic policies for a three-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF). Under the agreement, Pakistan was to receive about $6 billion during a period of 39 months, and so far it has received almost half it.
During the tour, Ismail is expected to meet the IMF managing director, chief executive officer of the World Bank, executive directors of the G-7 nations, ministers of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and China and the IMF mission chief to Pakistan.

Earlier, the newly appointed FM said that his priority was to secure one tranche of $1bn from the IMF and prepare for the coming budget and not to club two quarterly reviews.
