Punjab CM distributes 'Flood Cards' in Okara, announces 100 billion rehabilitation plan for affected districts 

Okara (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday announced a comprehensive Rs100 billion rehabilitation initiative for flood-affected families across the province.

She said this during a ceremony in Okara where she distributed Flood Cards among the victims.

Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said the Punjab government had carried out the entire rehabilitation process from its own budget without seeking external financial assistance.

She noted that while past governments would spend years requesting aid after natural disasters, her administration took swift action to support those affected.

“If the government’s funds are not used for the welfare of its people, then what purpose do they serve?” she remarked, underscoring her commitment to prioritizing the citizens of Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz further asserted that as long as she holds office, no one would be allowed to cast a malicious eye on the people of Punjab.

Announcing a financial relief package, she stated that the families of those who lost their lives in the floods would receive Rs1 million each as compensation. Farmers whose crops were damaged would be compensated at the rate of Rs20,000 per acre.

Additionally, every affected family would be given Rs50,000 in cash, with the remaining assistance accessible through ATMs.

The chief minister emphasized that the allocated Rs100 billion fund would be spent transparently and entirely on the rehabilitation and recovery of the affected communities.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, public representatives and notables of the area were also present on the occasion.
