President Zardari, PM Shehbaz extend greetings to Hindu community on Diwali

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have conveyed heartfelt felicitations to the Hindu community in Pakistan and around the world on the occasion of Diwali.

In his message on the occasion, President Zardari extended his sincere greetings and good wishes, saying that Diwali symbolises the victory of light over darkness and of good over evil.

He remarked that the festival embodies the timeless values of peace, compassion, and harmony, which transcend all religions and lie at the heart of Pakistan’s national spirit.

President Zardari said that these principles mirror the very foundations of Islam, which advocates respect and coexistence among all faiths.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s constitutional guarantees, the president stated that every citizen enjoys equal rights and complete freedom of religion, underscoring the state’s pledge to ensure a society built on mutual dignity and respect.

He recalled that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah envisioned a nation where minorities would have equal standing and the liberty to practice their faith freely.

President Zardari acknowledged the vital role of the Hindu community in the country’s progress, noting their valuable contributions to education, trade, and public service, which have significantly enriched Pakistan’s social and economic life.

“As we mark Diwali, let us renew our resolve to foster unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. May this festival of light encourage us to work together for a Pakistan defined by equality, harmony, and togetherness,” he said.

He extended his personal best wishes to the Hindu community, expressing hope that the festival would bring happiness, prosperity, and peace to their lives. “May the light of Diwali illuminate your homes and strengthen the bonds that unite us as one nation,” the President added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, also greeted the Hindu community at home and abroad, reaffirming his government’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities and rights for all citizens regardless of their beliefs.

Calling Diwali the “festival of lights,” he said it signifies light triumphing over darkness and hope prevailing over despair. The Prime Minister encouraged all Pakistanis to embrace positivity and unity, noting that the country’s diversity strengthens its national fabric and enriches its shared culture.

He lauded the Hindu community’s active role in Pakistan’s social, economic, and political life, saying that their cooperation alongside their Muslim compatriots continues to fortify national progress.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed his resolve to uphold Quaid-e-Azam’s vision of a Pakistan where all citizens live in freedom and equality, irrespective of religion, race, or caste.

Concluding his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz wished the Hindu community peace and prosperity, saying, “Happy Diwali. May this festival bring light, joy, and unity to all people of faith across our country.”
