Great wall of China hosts first-ever Pakistan-China joint fashion show

Beijing (Web Desk): In a unique display of cultural harmony and creative collaboration, the historic Badaling section of the Great Wall of China served as the stunning backdrop for the first-ever joint fashion show between Pakistan and China.

Organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing in collaboration with the China International Cultural Communication Center, the fashion show aimed to promote cultural exchange and strengthen people-to-people ties through the universal language of fashion.

Renowned Pakistani designers including Maheen Khan, Moazzam Abbasi, Ayesha Tariq, Rizwanullah, and Zain Hashmi showcased their exclusive collections, blending traditional Pakistani motifs like Ajrak, floral patterns, and ethnic embroidery with contemporary Chinese fashion aesthetics. Models walked the ramp wearing garments that beautifully reflected a fusion of both cultures.

Pakistani designer Aqeel Chaudhry, based in China, also presented a special jewellery collection, while celebrated Chinese designer Liang Su Yun added flair to the evening with her modern and elegant ensembles.

The event drew significant attention from diplomats, media representatives, Chinese officials, and members of the business community, marking it as a major step in cultural diplomacy.

Speaking at the event, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, emphasized the symbolic importance of hosting the show at the Great Wall, calling it a “monument not just of historical significance, but also of the enduring Pak-China friendship.”

He noted that this year also marks the 60th anniversary of President Ayub Khan’s historic visit to the Great Wall, adding even more meaning to the occasion.

Ambassador Hashmi highlighted the event as a celebration of creativity, cultural unity, and commercial opportunity, stating that such collaborations pave the way for deeper cooperation in fashion, art, and trade.

Chairman Long Yuxiang of the China International Cultural Communication Center called the fashion show a "powerful example of cultural exchange," noting that fashion, by blending traditional and modern aesthetics, can build a creative platform to further strengthen strategic ties between Pakistan and China at the grassroots level.
