PM Shehbaz reaffirms Pakistan's resolve to ensure success of next CPEC phase

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s strong determination to successfully carry forward the next stage of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is now being expanded into key areas such as agriculture, information technology, industrial growth, and mining.

He made these remarks during a meeting in Islamabad with a senior Chinese delegation headed by Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Cai Dafeng, currently in Pakistan to join the celebrations marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

PM Shehbaz described CPEC as a landmark project that has played a transformative role in Pakistan’s social and economic progress.

He further noted that over the past seven and a half decades, both nations have developed a unique and enduring friendship built on trust, cooperation, and aligned strategic perspectives on regional and international matters.

On this occasion, PM Shehbaz extended cordial greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and the Chinese people on the milestone anniversary, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China’s core interests while acknowledging Beijing’s consistent backing for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Reflecting on regional developments, the Prime Minister appreciated China’s constructive and stabilizing role in promoting peace in South Asia and the Middle East, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability, cooperation, and multilateral engagement.

Vice Chairman Cai Dafeng expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and reciprocated the anniversary greetings, stating that China remains committed to further strengthening bilateral relations.

He also reiterated China’s continued support for Pakistan’s development journey and its constructive role in advancing regional peace efforts, as well as contributing to global stability.

The two sides reaffirmed that the Pakistan–China “ironclad friendship” continues to serve as a cornerstone for peace, progress, and stability in the region.
