Political leaders of AJK hold press conference, condemn violent politics, unrest

Islamabad (Web Desk): Political leadership from Azad Kashmir, during a press conference in Islamabad, has expressed serious concern and strong condemnation over the recent situation and the role of a proscribed action committee.

Former Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan stated that the recent unrest caused an estimated loss of Rs 3 to 4 billion, however, he added that escalation towards confrontation was successfully averted. He said the Government of Pakistan showed patience and restraint throughout the situation.

On the occasion, Azad Kashmir leader Shah Ghulam Qadir said that the banned action committee attempted to incite the Kashmiri people and provoke rebellion, which he strongly condemned.

He further stated that while citizens have the right to raise their concerns, resorting to violence and disorder cannot be allowed. The leaders emphasized that all issues should be resolved only through peaceful and constitutional means.
