Renowned lyricist Khawaja Pervaiz remembered on death anniversary 

Lahore (Web Desk): The 14th death anniversary of Khawaja Pervaiz, one of Pakistan’s most iconic film lyricists, was observed on Friday.

Born as Ghulam Mohyyudin in Amritsar in 1932, he later moved to Pakistan after Partition and established himself as a towering figure in the world of Urdu and Punjabi film music.

Over a career that spanned more than forty years, Khawaja Pervaiz wrote close to 10,000 songs, contributing immensely to the golden age of Pakistani cinema.

His journey as a lyricist began with the film Rawaj in 1965, but it was the song "Tum Hee Ho Mehboob Meray" from the film Aaina in 1966 that brought him widespread acclaim and marked his breakthrough in the industry.

Among his most cherished works are songs that have become timeless classics, including "Sunn Wey Balori Akh Waleya", "Jub Koi Pyar Se Bulayega, Tum Ko Ek Shakhs Yaad Aayega", "Kisay Da Yaar Na Vichhray", "Mahi Aavey Ga, Mein Phullaan Naal Dharti Sajawan Gi", "Meri Chichi Da Challa Mahi La Layaa", "Do Dil Ik Doojay Kolun Door Ho Gayey", "Teray Bina Yoon Gharian Beetin, Jaisay Saddiyan Beet Gaein", "Jan-e-Jan Tu Jo Kahay, Gaaoon Mein Geet Naey", and "Dil-e-Veeran Hai, Teri Yaad Hai, Tanhai Hai".

In recognition of his significant contributions to music and cinema, he was awarded the prestigious Nigar Award five times—in 1985, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995.

Khawaja Pervaiz passed away on June 20, 2011, in Lahore.

Though he is no longer with us, his words and melodies continue to echo through the hearts of music lovers across generations.
