Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz visits Tokyo's historic Nehōbashi expressway project

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited the Nehōbashi section of the Metropolitan Expressway during her official trip to Tokyo, Japan.

During the visit, she also toured the historic Nehōbashi Bridge, a well-known landmark and popular pedestrian spot that connects Tokyo Station to various city districts via the waterfront. The bridge is famous for its architectural beauty and cultural significance.

To preserve the historic charm of the Nehōbashi Bridge, an underground expressway project is underway, expected to be completed within the next few years. This mega infrastructure project is being developed under Japan’s public-private partnership (PPP) model, showcasing a successful collaboration between the government and the private sector.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was briefed about the environmentally friendly features of the Nehōbashi Expressway project, highlighting its role in sustainable urban development.

She also reviewed the "VISTA" redevelopment hub, a central part of the Nehōbashi revitalization initiative aimed at integrating heritage preservation with modern urban planning.
