PM Imran to leave for his maiden Iran visit on Sunday

Prime Minister Imran Khan will pay a two-day official visit to Iran from Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO) on Saturday, PM Imran will visit Iran on April 21and 22.

On the invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, this will be the PM Khan’s first visit to Iran since assuming office.

 During the visit, PM Imran will call on Iranian Supreme Leader Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei and will also detailed consultations with President Rouhani.

The will also meet members of the Iranian and Pakistani business community in Iran. The FO said that a high-level delegation accompany the prime minister.

Pakistan’s relations with Iran are marked by close historic and cultural linkages and strong people to people exchanges. Both countries are also members of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, (OIC).the FO added.
